Community MinistryThe KASDA Community Service Department is made up of caring volunteers who are valuable participants in servicing this community. This department gathers and prepares clothing, food and other donated items as well as provide (but not limited to) the following services in this brochure.

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Kansas Avenue Community Service it to provide humanitarian services for relief, hope and transitional assistance to individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs through caring programs, compassionate support and access to collaborative partners.

Food Program:
We are a distributor for the Feeding America Food Bank Commodities program in the 92507 zip code area. In addition to those commodities, we also have a pantry (sponsored by church and non-government donors) for one time assistance to those in need who may not qualify for the Commodities program.

Because the commodities are a government program, we must adhere to the regulations governing this program. Those regulations require the following;

1. You must live in the 92507 zip code area.
2. Your family income may not be greater than the income listed on the income poster provided.
3. You may not sell or trade any of the foods you receive.
4. You must sign a statement agreeing to these regulations.
5. You may participate in the food program no more than one time per month.

Free shoes and clothing

When available, free clothes and shoes are on hand for the public on the first non-holiday Monday of the month. Other household items may be available as donations come in. SORRY, WE DO NOT PROVIDE DIAPERS.

Homeless [Showers] Program
Showers are every Tuesday from 9am to 12pm, four Tuesday’s a month, (closed every 5th Tuesday). A bath towel is loaned and a pair of underwear and hygiene kit is given to registered participants of this program. A lunch is still provided. The multipurpose room is made available from 9 to noon for our homeless guest. During adverse weather the multipurpose room hours are extended to minimize their exposure to the elements.

On occasion free hair cuts for the homeless are provided at this program.

English as a Second Language
Seasonally on Wednesday evenings from 4:30 to 6:30. Call to confirm sessions.
